After a nap, Marfa Day 2 continued with dinner at Q's Cafe and Wine Bar with dishes prepared by John Demers. Afterwards, we went to El Cosmico, an airsteam luxury hotel!, for a star party. Several astronomy enthusiasts brought their telescopes out and showed up the M51 galaxy, satelites, a space shuttle, the Beehive, and Saturn. It was pretty darn awesome. If you haven't looked at stars and planets through a telescope, I'd definitely recommend it. Around 10:30 pm, @windaddict and I went out to look at the Marfa lights again. They started dancing again, so John and I drove around following them. We didn't see much more than what you can see at the observatory deck, and we spend some fun times with border patrol. They were quite nice to us. |
