Vespaio is a warm and inviting Italian restaurant located in the hustle and bustle of South Congress.  I had heard great reviews of the food so I had no choice but to check it out.  I sampled two dishes - the Raviloini Di Vitella (Raviolini filled with veal & pecorino romano in grappa tomato butter with ricotta salata, basil oil & basil fritte) and Bistecca Tagliatta Con Patate Fritte (Oak fire grilled Niman Ranch hanger steak with a veal ridurre with patate fritte, sautéed baby spinach & a parmesan roasted tomato).  I enjoyed both dishes, and I look forward to coming back to try more.

The ravioli was some of the best I have ever had.  The texture of the pasta and the filling was perfectly balanced.   The sauce made with grappa tomato butter and basil oil was fantastic.  I licked the plate.  Can I have that sauce in a soup bowl?  It's mostly butter you say?  Awesome.  Can't go wrong with butter soup.

The hanger steak had a smokey flavor, and eating the fries brought me joy.  The tomato was perfectly roasted with a crispy and bubbly layer of cheese.  I'll be back for more.
